Analysis of Front Cover

NME-NME usually has the iconic red title, but strangely in this issue they have changed it to a bold white, this could be due to the model’s bright red hair and NME’s tendency to not have clashy front covers, the title also has a fixed position which is used in every magazine. The background colour is a soft diluted blue (neutral colour) which vastly improves the look and quality of the model. The target audience of this magazine I would presume would be aged 17-35, I think this may be because NME hosts a lot of musical knowledge and presents a lot of news both old and new. On this cover in particular it has a interesting title – ‘Suede comeback interview’ this is intriguing due to the fact it is enticing the viewer to read this ‘comeback’ interview. The layout of the text and images is spread out to show the face of the model clearer as this is the main focal point of the front cover. There are 4 images on this cover which I think personally is a very good number as its not overly cluttering and quite simple.

Kerrang-Kerrang is a music magazine and from the front cover this is very evident. Even from the title we get this impression by the use of onomatopoeia in the word “Kerrang”. It sounds like the strumming on a guitar, which is the instrument it is associated with. Also from the front cover I can tell that inside the magazine there will be a lot about bands because there are 4 images on the cover and they are all of bands, male Caucasian bands to be precise. Kerrang are well known to have quite a selection of images on their front covers although this time they do not have as many images as they usually do, the font and house style is the same as all the other magazines in this issue.
